It has been a tremendous comfort to read so many wonderful tributes within these pages. My brother was a fantastic person who was there for me my entire life and I miss him every single day.

As many before, I worked with Dave and you could not ask for a better 'go to' guy. Always available, not afraid to make a decision, solid as a rock. But Dave's rock was multifacets with humour, grace, wicked golf swing, cooking, down to earth realism. All the things that made him special. And those special things will help us remember him. To Dave's family, I am so sorry for your loss.

I have worked with Dave for many years. Dave always treated everyone with respect and as an equal colleague. He always took time to explain things and was happy to do it. On the Grade 9 Take Your Kid to Work Day, he booked time and took the kids and parents in our building that day on a Data Centre tour - what a treat for them and me too. I'm glad I got to see him just before his passing, he will be greatly missed!

I am saddened and shocked to hear of Dave's passing.
I had the pleasure of working with Dave through many crisis situations over the years and he always let Common sense prevail, then implemented the solution.

Dear Kathy, Chris and John,
We cherish the memories we have had with you and Dave from the time Dave drilled a hole through his new Chi Chi, his building of our teak swim grid for our boat (he boasted he screwed the grid 1200 times), the time Chris was born and John walked him around the boat to get him to go to sleep, the trips to Desolation Sound, the berth of John, We could go on and on, but more important is the feeling of loss of a very special friend you could always count on when needed. We are sorry we wont be at Dave's service but our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We will see you when we get back home in April. Our love to you and the boys. ... if it were not for all of the enjoyment and laughs, the concern and caring that Dave brought into my life, it would be easy to be sad today. But, as I recall those great moments of our friendship, those memories bring a needed smile to my face. You have my deepest sympathies for the loss of Dave. I was shocked and very saddened to learn that he passed away. I have worked with Dave on numerous projects over the years and always enjoyed the experience. His sharp wit and sense of humour were invariably welcome and never far from below his teddy-bear surface. I will also miss his expert advice and thoughtful comments.

I'm so sorry to learn of Dave's passing & find myself still looking to see him coming around the corner in our office. In my interactions with him in the past 3 years, he was always willing to listen & take the time to discuss various IT matters. So knowledgeable & insightful... he had a gift for getting to the essence of an issue quickly & often wrapped it up in his terrific sense of humour! My sympathy to his family & to all of us at Seymour, in adjusting to the ‘new order' of things... he is missed.

As recently as 2 months ago, Dave was still willing to give his time to others. During Career day, he didn't hesitate to volunteer for a tour of his Telecom center. I believe he was very proud of his accomplishments here at 4000 Seymour, and this was his chance to show it.
I will miss him dearly as a friend, boss, and mentor.

I will always remember Dave for his integrity and that mutual respect our relationship came to evolve from. Over our years working together the stories we traded grew to have lesser to do with the business at hand and more about what was most important to him: his family of course, trips to the lake, electronics and golf! I still cannot believe that such a strong individual could be taken so quickly.

I know there are many on Team Dave, I'd count myself as one of them. His qualities were many but the strongest memory is sitting down in his office and talking through a problem or getting advice.
There are few bosses in your life like Dave and he's the kind of leader we all should aspire to be ... I hope his family can feel the support from those like me that Dave supported so well through the years.

What a loss, Dave was one of the greats! A true gentleman, kind of heart and always with a joke at hand. He has been a mentor to me for two decades and always compelled me to stand confident on how I felt, and to say my peace. Dave and I worked together for many years in Govt and at 4000 Seymour. Each time he saw me, he enjoyed sharing a story or two and always a laugh, He also loved sharing stories to me about his family and the last few years all the pictures of the grandchildren he was so proud to share. Kathy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Dave for the past four years through working at Shared Services BC. Prior to that time, I worked with your son Chris when I was at MOF Protection on mobility devices. I always had a great respect for Chris and when I met Dave, knew where Chris had gotten his wonderful personality from. It is difficult to understand what you all must be going through at this time. I will miss Dave so much. Loved to see him at my door - I always knew we could figure out any issue together and have a few laughs along the way. I worked with Dave for many years throughout our telecommunication days both with the BC Government and at 4000 Seymour. I have always had the greatest admiration and respect for him. Kathy and family I have worked with your husband for the past 5 years. Dave was truly one of the funniest and kindest men I have met in the past 5 years. He was honest, sincere, straight forward, and his sense of humour was legendary. We talked about golf all the time but never actually got a chance to play together (which I am truly sorry for). I spoke with Dave just over a week ago and we laughed a little and cried a little but as always Dave was a cup half full guy! He will be sorely missed by all of us and my thoughts and prayers are with you and Dave's extended family and friends.
