David CLARKE Obituary
Surrounded by his loving family, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of David, our beloved son, brother, and uncle on July 15, 2023 in his 63rd year, following a recent, brief illness. Predeceased by his dad Fred, he will be sorely missed by his mom Barbara, brother Stephen, sister Catharine and brother-in-law Mario, his sister Deborah and nephew Aaron and all his dear friends in Victoria.
Originally from Etobicoke Ontario, the more temperate climes, ocean, and nearby mountains attracted David west to Victoria, his home since 1991. He loved his city and always enjoyed being out walking, meeting people and sharing stories. A few years ago, he volunteered his time working for Victoria's Action Committee of People with Disabilities. Our family extends our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital ICU team of doctors and nurses for their compassionate care of David, to the Social Work Team for their invaluable support, and to all for ensuring we always had time to be with David from across the miles. We express enormous gratitude to three nurses for getting David outside one last time, for the sun to warm his face and the breeze to touch his skin. A gift to him. A treasured gift to us. The family invites friends to gather at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1155 Fort St, Victoria on Thurs July 27, 6-8pm to be together, reminisce , share stories, and honour David. In lieu of flowers donations could be made in memory of David to either The Full Cupboard, Vancouver Island or The David Suzuki Foundation.
David has taught us so much through his indomitable spirit, his silent courage, and his fierce, loving compassionate heart. We will miss you always David.
