David Conrod Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Richard Conrod on October 19, 2022 with his brother Roger and friend Tim by his side. David was born on May 12th, 1943 to Thomas and Christina Conrod in Cumberland, B.C. His family later moved to Campbell River, where they built their home at Shelter Point and shared many happy memories together. David graduated from Carihi in 1961, earned a Bachelor of Education degree from UVIC in 1966 and a Master of Education degree from SFU. He was a well respected educator and principal with the Vancouver School District.

David is survived by his brothers Phillip (Gloria), Roger (Wendy), his nieces Rachelle, Carmen, Sherri, Krista (Jesse), nephew Todd (Stephanie), great-nephew Thomas and great-nieces, Kenley and Bria.

David will always be remembered for his generous, loving, and kind spirit. He was witty, had a cheeky sense of humour and always enjoyed sharing a good laugh. He made friends wherever he went and found the positives in any situation. David went above and beyond for his loved ones and was thoughtful in all that he did.

David was an avid gardener, loved to travel, fish and explore the islands around Campbell River in his boat. What he cherished most was time with family and friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Burnaby General and St. Michael's Hospice for the care given to David and to Tim, who never left his side.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, Burnaby Hospital Foundation or BC Cancer Agency Foundation in David's honour. Following David's wishes, there will be no celebration of life.

Goodbye my family and my friends,
My life has past.
I loved you all to the very last.
Weep not for me, but comfort take,
Love each other for my sake,
For those you love don't go away,
They walk beside you every day.

David will never be forgotten. We will carry him with us in our hearts and in our happy memories.

My husband and his family have known Dave as a teacher and a friend since the late 60s. Then Dave became a wonderful friend to my husband and me and to our growing girls. We will all miss Dave very much and will remember him always.

David, my amazing cousin...a huge part of my childhood was joy of his visits to us. Teaching me to ride a bike without training wheels, came to light our fireworks each halloween and regular visits & dinners. An incredible man & will forever be in my heart.
I am so heartbroken he has left us but, know he is with all the family who left previous, telling jokes, laughing, playing cards together. You will be dearly missed but always remembered with love
