David William ELSON

David William Elson died on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital following a brief illness. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning with his devoted wife Sheila holding his hand. He was 89 years old. David was the dear old dad of Tim and Nicky and grandfather to Liliane, Jacqueline, and Ruby. He was a widower to Elizabeth, his darling wife of 35 years and mother to his children. He was also a husband of 15 years to Sheila, his wife, companion, and friend. David was a father-in-law to Brenda and Kelly, a little brother to Hazel, and an uncle to Gavin, Mark, Joanne, and Tamar. Originally from Bristol, England, David was arguably the most British man in Canada. He loved his family, his football and a pint of beer or a cup of tea. He also had a love of fancy cars, motorhomes, skiing, dogs, and a drive and determination like no other. He was an engineer during his career and in his retirement was part of the Welsh Society, the Rotary Club, and the Engineering Society. David was a man of contradictions. He was as generous as he was stubborn and as proud as he was humble. He was also a cheeky bugger who delighted in telling jokes and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date when his remains are taken back to Wales to rest next to his dear wife Elizabeth who he lost some twenty years ago.
