David LOGAN Obituary

David Garth Logan died at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on Friday April 15, 2022. He is survived by his wife (Nan) and daughter (Mary Grace) and predeceased by his mother (Ilka), father (Bertram), and brother (Robert). David and Nan met in Halifax and when he was stationed in Virginia Beach, Nan relocated to be with him. He served in the Navy for 32 years; he was an expert marksman and worked with NATO. David spent many years travelling the world, he and Nan were married while living in Ottawa and moved to Sidney to be near Nan's family in the late 90s. After retiring from the Navy he spent 1 year working for them as a private citizen then moved onto his other passion - planes. David worked at the Victoria International Airport as a part of the Commissionaires for 18 years. Nan's family farm on Saturna Island was an extremely large part of David's life and he spent many years volunteering for the annual Lamb BBQ cooking the Spanish rice. David will be remembered as being a kind and principled man who was full of stories and jokes. A celebration of life will be held at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, BC from 2-4pm on June 11, 2022. In lieu of flowers the family has requested you donate to the Saturna Community Foundation or to the charity of your choice.

Our condolences go out to Nan and Mary Grace in their loss.
David was a warm hearted and considerate friend. Chatting with him while waiting for arrivals at the Victoria Airport was always fun. His stories of working on the Campbell Farm and at the Saturna Lamb BBQ displayed his quiet humour.

David was always sharing stories of his days in the Navy and of his family at home and on the farm. He beamed when he spoke of Mary Grace and was always astonished at how hard Jackie and Nan work to keep the farm thriving. My condolences to his family (and kitty). He is a presence that will be missed.
