David Staples Obituary

STAPLES, David Lloyd
July 03, 1934 - December 01, 2025
Dave will be sorely missed but the love and wonderful family memories shared will remain with us forever. Dave was a partner, a friend, the love of my life, major contributor to 67 memorable years of marriage. He was also a survivor of 65 years of a busy fun-filled family life.
Inspector David served in the RCMP for 35 years. He was a dedicated police officer. He commanded the Joint Forces and BC Narcotic sections, excelled as an instructor of Criminal Law at Depot Training Division Penhold and Regina. He had many other interests and accomplishments. Dave mastered every challenge he set his mind to. He enjoyed a life long hobby. He built beautiful model aircraft, small and large. He also spent hours flying them. This self-taught skill led him to tackle building an incredible large truck camper, a 3 bedroom cottage, garage, several suites and rec rooms. He lived life to the fullest, ran a marathon, years of ocean kayaking, hiker, and loved jive.
Sadly Dave was predeceased by his grandson Elliot Eurchuk & daughter Rebecca. He is survived by his wife Carol-Ann, daughters Brenda Beck (Barry), Rachel Staples (Brock Eurchuk), son-in-law Jack DeNicola; grandchildren: Hilary Mathieson (David), David Beck (Selah), Caroline Beck, Oliver & Isaac Eurchuk, Tessa and Nicholas DeNicola, CA; great grandchild Theo Mathieson, sister Margaret (Eugene Falkenberg), and numerous nieces and nephews.

We invite you to our service of "Remembering Dave", Saturday, January 03, 2026, 2:00 pm, refreshments following, Cordova Bay United Church, 813 Claremont Ave., Victoria. Donations to Victoria Hospice thankfully received.

Dear Carol-Ann and family
Our sincere condolences on Dave´s passing. While Dave was a dedicated RCMP member that was greatly respected he was much more than that. He was so proud of his family and it was always nice to see you and Dave walking hand in hand at all kinds of downtown Victoria events. He will be missed.

Dave was my Federal Stats instructor in recruit training in Penhold, AB in 1969. He was knowledgeable and bright and very capable at his duties. I re-connected with him fondly many times since then in the course of our work. It is no exaggeration to describe him as truly "an officer and a gentleman". May he RIP.
