David Tanner Obituary
1961 - 2026
David Tanner peacefully passed away in Victoria, surrounded by his loved ones on January 9th, 2026. He was 65-years old.
David will be deeply missed by his wife of 26-years; Jackie, his children Spencer, Wesley and Zevannah, granddaughter Isara, sisters Marlene, Heather (Peter), Carolyn (Dave) and brother Larry (Diane).
David recently retired from the BC Forest Service after serving 32-years.
Even though David has called Victoria, BC his home for the past 40 years he has fond memories of growing up in Dorchester, Ontario till the age of 13 when the family moved to Chatham, Ontario where he attended Tecumseh High School and made life-long friends that he kept to his end.
David was also a passionate genealogist, leaving behind a collection of old family photos, documents and articles. Even his tombstone displays his family tree going back five generations.
David enjoyed attending live concerts and events. The 70's was his favourite decade (excluding disco). He was an avid kayaker, enjoyed travelling, road trips and all that Vancouver Island had to offer.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, January 24th, at Sands Funeral Chapel - Colwood (317 Goldstream Ave).

Our deepest condolences to the entire Tanner family uon the passing of David. David´s friendliness, good humour and ease of being made working with him a pleasure in the world of trees and technology. His courage to face and take control of his health is an inspiration and lesson on living and dying that everyone can learn from. Thank you for sharing David and for your remembrance of him at his celebration of life.

We will remember David for all his stories of his adventures. His best adventure resulted in meeting and marrying his wonderful wife Jackie with whom he raised three amazing kids. With sadness we will miss our little brother David.
