One of my favourites in Royal Oak around grade 8 and 9. When asked about his name, he would reply Darius Maximillian Augustus Delordabean Von Hattsburg Young (or something to that effect).
Interested in audio visual, I got to spend more one on one time with mister Young. For sure he had colourful language. He definitely helped shape in a good way how I thought.
True story... Mr. young comes into home room one morning channeling his best Kung-Fu impression of David Carradine, and kicking his foot up in the air. His shoe flys off and hits a student in the face. You wouldn't likely see that in other homerooms.

We were fortunate to be Dave Young´s nextdoor neighbours on Camrose Cresent for more than 20 years. We shared a common love of gardening and always enjoyed our over the back fence conversations. We kept in touch with a yearly phone all around Christmas--he´ll be missed.
Rest in peace Dave.

I had the pleasure of spending a day alone with Mr Young on a school trip to London England. He took me on an antiquing adventure and gave me a lasting memory of that day. He was an awesome teacher!

My favourite English teacher at Royal Oak in the mid 1960s. He had a way with words that could be a wee bit shocking - but always entertaining. Rest in peace, Mr. Young.

David was a pretty progressive teacher with a very dry sense of humour, definitely one of my favourites at Royal Oak in the 1960's.

Mr. Young was one of my absolute favorites at Royal Oak; a stand out human being. I attended a high school reunion a couple of years ago and Mr. Young was mentioned as one of the all time greats. He was a sharp dresser (bow ties come to mind). I'm so sorry he is gone but I, as well as many others will remember the impact he had on my time at Royal Oak. He truly was the best.

More than 50 years ago (closer to 60!), David was the librarian in my junior high school. He was such a bright light! And he was the one of the mentors who helped me to find my way to a life in writing and I wish I'd thanked him for that.
