Diana SUNQUIST Obituary

SUNQUIST, Diana Margaret November 25, 1919 - July 10, 2017 After a long and fulfilling life our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 97 in Sidney, BC. Mom's devotion to family was at the core of all she did. She was predeceased by her wonderful husband Ed in 1995 after 53 years of marriage, as well as her sister Audrey and parents Margaret and Bert Tomalin. She is survived by her 3 children; Ken (Carolyn)/ Ottawa, Susan (Ron)/ Sidney and Tim (Susan)/ Calgary. Her grandchildren who loved her so much are James (Ila), Chris (Maryse), Stephen (Sue), Sean (Kate), Ryan (Angela), Jill (Bruce), Tyler (Melissa). Also great-grandchildren Connor, Olivia, Alex, Kyle, Kira, Trevlyn, Elliot and Molly will miss her. Mom was born in Cirencester, England and emigrated to Canada in 1923, first to Montreal, and then settling in Winnipeg. In 1961, our family moved to Regina. It was while living in Regina that she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren boating and waterskiing at the family cottage on Pasqua Lake at Fort Qu'Appelle. Our family was actively involved in figure skating at the Wascana Winter Club, where she volunteered and judged. After Ed's passing in 1995 Diana moved to her condo in Sidney to be closer to her daughter, Susan and family. Throughout her rewarding and successful career, she worked as a bookkeeper, office manager and eventually as a manager with the Canadian Federal Government in various departments. At the time of her retirement, she was the Personnel Administrator for "F " and "Depot " divisions and for all RCMP civil servants in Saskatchewan. In addition to the enjoyment she received from being a huge part and role model with her family, mom's other activities included participating in her church, volunteering and travelling. She travelled extensively with our dad to many destinations around the world, and throughout Canada and the USA. Our family will always cherish the memories of the family trip to celebrate our parents' 50 anniversary in Waikiki, Hawaii. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at the Peninsula and Resthaven Lodge for the wonderful care they provided to our mom. A Celebration of Life will be held July 25, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Sidney, BC. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations in her memory could be made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Interment to follow at a later date at St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral in Regina.
