Diane Lindsay Obituary

LINDSAY, Diane Susan (AKA George) nee Rant The Pumpkin Queen of Halloween June 5/48 October 31/09 It is with our loving but broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom and Sister. She was predeceased by her wonderful mom Millie Lange (Rant) & her father Dick Rant. Susan is survived by her loving children Wyatt Thomas Moore (20) and Sara Lindsay Moore (25), daughter's partner Patrick Porcheron, and her devoted sister Karrie Rant, whom she praised as having a heart of gold. Also her stepmother Terry Rant and stepsister Maureen McNulty in Courtenay, supportive ex-husband Tom Moore and partner Maggie Olson. Her beloved cats Ben & Scarlet and grand-dogs Lucy & Kipa will miss her as much as we will. Memories of her smile, kindness and humor will help us to carry on. She will always be remembered for her outgoing personality, costumes and dislike of gum chewing! Susan passed away peacefully on Halloween surrounded by her children and sister. Fitting that she would pass on the day she loved so much. This event will always be celebrated with great vigor in her memory. She was a member of Unity Church of which she drew great strength and comfort. Thank you to all her many treasured friends that are too numerous to mention. She loved all of you so much. We would like to thank Dr.'s V. Bernstein, G. MacLean, & R. Puhky as well as all of her home & palliative care nurses. Celebration of Susan's life will be held on Saturday November 28, 2009 at Strawberry Vale Community Hall from 1-5pm. Friends & Family welcome. Flowers are gratefully declined but please bring stories to share and laughter to give. 567825

Dear Susan,
You took the time and energy to make every meeting meaningful. You've been a role model, a mentor, and a fellow halloween costume enthusiast. I'm sorry I didn't get to share this year's halloween photos with you, but you chose your timing oh so well. I will think of you often, and am wishing you well.

Susan had a joyful spirit and energy. She contributed much to her community and presented her points of view in a sincere and logical manner. She is unforgettable, and we send our condolences to Sara and Wyatt, and to all members of her family.

Susan has been in my thoughts often in the last few weeks. I will continue to be inspired by her strong will to live life fully with no apologies. She was a generous, caring, supportive friend that was always full of surprises that usually required some sort of costume. She came to most the Women of Widad performances and it will feel weird to have her not in my life. My thoughts and prayers go out to all her family and friends. She is missed and loved.

Isn't it odd that I've been thinking lots about Susan and then to read of her passing. She will be missed beyond words... What a representation of life she aired to any thing or one that had even the briefest touch with her earthly being! Her voice will be missed with Santa's Anonymous Carollers but I know her spirit will be cheering us on!

Dear Sara, Wyatt and Karrie,

I am so sorry that you have lost such a wonderful, caring and thoughtful friend, mother and sister. In over 30 years of knowing Susan, I was unfailingly inspired by her willingness to speak out on important political issues and by the energy she put into supporting her friends and family. I will miss her dearly.

Dear Karrie: I was saddened to hear of Susan's passing. I last saw Susan at Dad's (Red's) when he moved into his new place. We had a wonderful visit. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Dear Sara and Wyatt
I would like to express my great sadness at your loss. Your mother was one of the kindest and most thoughtful persons I have met. As a colleague and friend for the past 25 years, it is and has been a privilege to know her.....Hugh Hayward

Dear Karrie and family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely sister Susan. I remember first meeting Susan when she worked in the Christmas Shop at Eatons years ago. It was there that I discovered she had also worked with my Dad. Whenever our paths would cross she would never fail to enquire about my Dad. Susan was always friendly, kind and upbeat. I will always remember her beautiful smile! My thoughts and prayers are with you. I send you my deepest sympathies.
