Diane Schmuck Obituary

SCHMUCK, Diane Janice
Diane Janice Schmuck passed on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 at age 78. She was born in 1947 in Victoria, B.C. She grew up in Port Alberni, B.C. and completed her schooling there.

She worked in banking in Victoria and later worked in the office at W.H. Malkin/Kelly-Douglas in Esquimalt. In 1992 she and husband John Schmuck moved to Vancouver, B.C. for new employment opportunities and Diane returned to her banking career with Scotiabank. They remained in Vancouver through both her's and John's retirements, living in the West End, enjoying Stanley Park, English Bay, and their friends. In 2009 they moved back to their original home in Victoria on Rock Street.

Diane enjoyed her pet dogs, her backyard garden, and chatting over the fence with neighbours in Playfair Park. She was an avid walker and yoga class participant. Her other favourite pastimes included shopping, shoes, purses and entertaining family and friends. She and John took numerous overseas trips over the years to Europe, South America, Australia and Asia.

Diane was predeceased by brother Dennis Reid. She is survived by husband John Schmuck, son Jay Parkin, sister Debbie Singh (Graham), brother David, and many nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to all who have shared their condolences. Deepest thanks to all the caregivers at Royal Jubilee Hospital during her long 31 day stay.

A Celebration of Diane's life will be held at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, at 2 pm on Thursday, October 23rd. Donations to Alzheimer's Research would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Rest gently, my Sweet !

We had great memories of Diane & John going to the Keg on Quadra every Friday in Victoria with Diane & John. We had our own table in the corner of the keg. Our condolences John & family.
