CAMERON, Donald Gordon
November 6, 1926 - January 23, 2026
Don passed away on January 23, 2026, in Victoria, BC. He was born in Victoria to Gordon and Beatrice (Bimbie) Cameron (nee McClintock), and was elder brother to sister, Shirley Wingate.
After attending Monterey and St Michael's Schools, Don graduated from Oak Bay High in 1943 and then attended Victoria College, joined the RCAF (UATC) and briefly, the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. Thereafter, Don attended UBC and graduated with a law degree in 1949 and joined his father in partnership to practice under the law firm of Cameron & Cameron. Don enjoyed a general practice that included many court appearances before the Supreme Court of BC, BC Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada. Along the way Don had the intermittent paralegal support of his daughter, Sandra. His daughter, Brenda, benefited greatly from his mentorship as she established herself as a lawyer and built her practice in Vancouver. Don retired in 2000 having been in practice in Victoria for 51 years.
Over Don's life, he enjoyed memberships in many organizations including Junior Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Flying Club, Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Victoria Coffee Club, and the Racquet Club of Victoria where he stayed active playing tennis and squash. He enjoyed photography, bridge, snow skiing, water skiing, boating, fishing, and summers at the family cottage at Shawnigan Lake.
Don is survived by daughters, Brenda Cameron (Samantha and Jason Merz) and Sandra Cameron (Deandra and Natalie Spiller), Ron Spiller, and valued friend, Marilyn Perks. He is predeceased by his first wife and mother to his children, Katharine Cameron (nee Jones), second wife, Amber Cameron (nee Kilshaw), his son, Ian Cameron, and his sister, Shirley Wingate.
The family extends sincere thanks for the support that assisted Sandra and Brenda in the care of Don, particularly Shelley and Gigi, and by the staff at Parkwood Place Senior Living during his final months.

A Celebration of Life for Don will be arranged at a future date.

I want to wish you all peace and comfort in the days to come, that your dad is at peace with your mom and your brother Ian. What a lovely story of his life and accomplishments.
