Donald Easton Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Don into the presence of God. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy (Bigmore); daughter, Sue (Bob); son, Michael (Melanie); grandchildren, Brendon (Brianna), Elya (Eric), Shaylyn, Rachelle (Isaac); and precious great-granddaughter, Lilibet. Don was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Irene; sister, Lillian; and brother, Murray. Don was born in Victoria and taught in elementary schools in Saanich for 14 years. In 1974, Don and Judy took a leap of faith and bought the Christian Book Room on Johnson Street. Don, always with a smile and a cheerful greeting, continued working at the store, delivering books and Bibles, until the day he passed. He enjoyed cabin leading at Camp Imadene, playing tennis and racquetball, fishing, videography, Bible teaching, and traveling with his wife Judy and family. He was active in Youth for Christ - Victoria and was instrumental in its founding. He was president of the Christian Booksellers Association of Canada and served as an Elder at Oaklands Chapel for many years before later attending Lambrick Park Church and then Gateway Baptist. Don will be remembered for his unyielding faith, kind-heartedness, wisdom, sense of humour, love for his grandkids, passion for reading, and his ability to talk with anyone. Thank you to Dr. Kachan who provided such amazing care over the years and to the First Responders, Emergency staff at the Jubilee and the staff at the Fort Street Post Office who were so kind and caring during a difficult day, you have our gratitude. The family invites you to a Celebration of his Life and Legacy at Coastline Church (Glad Tidings) on Saturday, February 1, at 11 a.m.
Donations for Bibles may be made to YFC - Victoria or Camp Imadene in honour of Don.

Don devoted his life to ministry. On that day when we each appear before the Bema Seat of Christ, we will hear our Savior say "Well done Don...Thy good and faithful servant".

I'm so sorry to hear of Don's passing. He (and Judy) have been apart of my church memories since I was a young girl. Always a kind man with a lovely smile. My husband only just had the pleasure of meeting Don when he came in for a haircut before Christmas.
I pray for the Lord's comfort and peace for the whole family during this very sad time.

Man of God! Don was a wonderful man, compassionate and kind man. My interactions with him were numerous. It didn't matter whether it was through Youth for Christ Victoria, at the Christian Book and Music or at Lambrick Park Church, Don always led with "how are you doing?" and different from so many he genuinely wanted to know.

Judy we are very sorry for your loss. We rejoice in knowing that he is heaven bound and now celebrating with the one he chose to to love, serve and follow for his earthly life!

Our thoughts and prayers with with your family!

Condolences to Judy, Murray and the family. We were sorry to hear of Don's passing. He touched our lives at several points, including ISCF leadership during high school years and, later, encouraging people to buy books that I (Lloyd) had written. His legacy will be long and his ability to congenially communicate will be remembered.
