I recently was reminiscing about friends I lost contact with over the years and called up the name of Don Reksten and was saddened to learn that Don had moved on to join the big band in the sky. Don, Brian Mclagan, Nick Galichinko and myself got together many times to listen and review the latest jazz record we purchased. I think of Don when I listen to the Harold Land record called the Fox and brings back fond memories of the times we spent together at our family homes socializing, along with some jamming and giging. Like Don I also attended King Ed high school the same time as Don's sisters Judy and Sue. My condolences to all the family members and may the many fond memories of Don be a comfort during these difficult times.

Dear Leona and the Reksten and Taylor/Jones families,
My sister Valerie and I are deeply saddened to learn of Don's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. He will be sorely missed. Don and our father, Denis Lemon, were band mates with the Commodores Big Band and the best of friends. Dad thought the world of him. Don was very kind to us when Dad passed sharing many happy memories, photos and stories. I am sure they are playing the sax together again and having a good laugh.
Wishing you peace and comfort in the difficult days ahead.
Hilary Jordan and Valerie Desmarais. Victoria
