Doreen (Do) Copp passed away at home in Victoria on Thursday, November 7th with her daughter Donna and son-in-law Lindsay McLaren by her side. She was predeceased by husband Victor her mother Janet Watson Todd, father Clement Ross Patterson, brother Clement Gordon Patterson, son-in-laws Donald Wilkinson and Wayne Wickens, stepmother Mary Kathleen McCartney, and brother-in-law Gordon Copp. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Wickens and Donna (Lindsay) McLaren, sister-in-laws Jean Copp and Jane Patterson, grandchildren Jennifer (Bo), Steven, Mellisa, and great grandchildren Ben, Danny, Rebecca and Jamie and many nieces and nephews. She loved us all. During her school years she lived in James Bay and attended Victoria High School. She later worked at the CIBC when it was on Douglas and Cormorant St. Mom and Dad square danced and had many close friends in the Country Cousins. Doreen loved cooking and baking and kept the family and friends in many delicious cakes, cookies and Scottish pancakes and other delights. She also was a great knitter and usually had many sweaters, socks and Izzy Dolls (which she probably made thousands that went with Dr's supplies to other countries) on the go. When the girls were younger she sewed a lot of their clothes. She had a group of lady friends (most from Square dancing) that met for many years on Wednesdays ... they called themselves the Golden Girls ... Mom was the last of them. Much of Mom's last year was at the Wellesley where she enjoyed meeting her neighbours and playing bingo and checking out the activities. We will miss Mom's big smile and easy going nature and love of her family. The family extends a huge thank you to the staff of the Wellesley and the care aids that looked after her. Their kindness will not be forgotten.

My ex-in-laws were Bob and Elva Clemens, who were "Country Cousins". I remember seeing Do possibly at a wedding shower. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they were all dancing up there?

Dear Lynn and Donna and families,
I was so sorry to read of your mother´s passing in the Times Colonist. I remember the cheery atmosphere at your home on Falaise Crescent when I often played there as a child with Lynn - we went through Royal Oak Elementary school together (you may remember me as the quiet introverted piano player back then - I´m not much different now). Thanks to you and your mother for wonderful memories which I cherish to this day.
Thinking of you at this difficult time,
Diane

Although I don't know Doreen, it seems like she was a wonderful and kind person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I'm grateful for the difference that she made in the lives of so many children worldwide through her generous donation of Izzy Dolls.
Blessings, Shirley O'Connell, Izzy Doll Mama. www.izzydoll.org

Doreen was a lovely lady and a good friend to our Mom. A year ago John and I were in Hawaii and stopped in at The Breakers. I spoke to Doreen on our return to tell her she and Mom were still remembered fondly having spent many wonderful vacations there.
Sincere sympathy to Doreen´s family,
Floss Ferguson´s daughters, Diana, Dale & Barb and families
