Doreen FERRIS Obituary

On October 11, 2023 Doreen passed away at the Gorge Hospital with her children Lynda and Steven by her side. Doreen is survived by her daughter Lynda (Brian) and son Steven (Julia), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by the love of her life, Tom, in 2015, and her brother Bob. Tom and Doreen were happily married for 67 years.
Doreen was born and raised in Victoria, where she lived her whole 96 years. She started her work life at the Royal Dairy and from there went to Eaton's, where she first worked as a server in the snackbar and later moved on to the Employee's Lunchroom. She ended her working career at Eaton's Dining Room after a total of 30 years.
Doreen enjoyed travelling together with her husband Tom to many different places in Asia, the United States as well as Panama. They spent 12 winters in Arizona and made many life-long friends, bowling and playing Golf. Doreen loved being around people, especially babies.
No service was her wish.

We were neighbors of Tom and Doreen for many years and would see them in the area and have a chat, especially when we both found out we'd have to move because highways were taking our homes to enlarge the highway. We talked about the good and the bad of our forced move, and when we ran into each other shopping, because we discovered we'd both moved to nearby areas, we would discuss the good and bad of the new neighborhood and the new neighbors. They were both such fun to chat with. They were lovely people and I know you will miss them very much.
