Doris Boileau Obituary

Doris Ann Boileau (nee Peckenpaugh) passed away peacefully in Victoria at the age of 92.

Born in Cranbrook, BC, Doris had moved with her family to some two dozen whistlestops on the Great Northern railroad in BC, Montana and Idaho before signing up with the Canadian Army in WWII to work as a radio operator in England and Holland. In her 80s she published a book about her wartime experiences.

After the war she returned to Canada and worked in the Mount Royal Hotel and the Banff School of Fine Arts.

While in Banff she met and married Art Boileau, moving to Montreal in 1967. Art predeceased her in 1971. She then returned to Banff briefly, but eventually settled in Victoria.

Even while working she always made time for creative pursuits. Her home was a gallery of her original artworks (quilts, paintings, hand-hooked rugs, and embroideries).

Her family and friends will always remember the twinkle in her eye, her generosity and love, her mischievous wit and her positive outlook on life.

Doris was a devoted member of the Self Realization Fellowship community.

She is survived by her children Anthony Pearse (Tania Pearse) and Jane Boileau, her brother David Wallinger (and his children Stephen, Kevin and Kelly), her grandchildren Erin Pearse (Michelle Pearse), Sergei Pearse, Rhayne Alexander, Lynne Page (Guylain), John Boileau (Jennifer), eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr Darcel and the attentive staff of Broadmead Lodge for their exceptional care-giving.

Thankyou to Ann for being in our family.I have always had memories of her quiet presence, waiting for a just the right moment to add her sharp wit and twinkle into the goings-on. Her talent and skill with art and beautiful creations were so much of who she was. She lived a life well lived. Can't do better than that! Hugs to you Jane and family...Stay strong as you start another phase of your life too
