Our deep condolences to Willy and family. Allan was a wonderful man, and all of the Highlands will miss him.
We want to add one more way Allan contributed to the community. Allan was the 2nd (taking over after Val Fletcher) and longest serving chair of the Highlands "Sustainable Land Use Select Committee".
One of the great things about the Highlands is that many, probably most, residents care deeply about the place and the community. And fairly often, Highlands local government has been open to our cares and concerns.
Allan was a fantastic spokesperson to local government, and also a very effective cat-herder as committee chair (a lot of us on SLUSC overflowed with "causes" but were not so great at keeping focus to turn local' "causes" into tangible local "effects"). But Allan kept us (and Council) on track with well-considered lists of priorities. Allan was articulate, clear and concise, and his leadership was greatly appreciated.
We are sad that we won't be at the Celebration of Life in person, but we will be in spirit. Again, so sorry for your loss.

Yes, Allan was a 'quirky', reverse-trike kind of fellow... and much more. He was the one person I've known in my life that I enviably thought of as an eccentric intellectual. I regret not having seen more of him.
