Dorothy Mutter Obituary

MUTTER, Dorothy Virginia
Dorothy slipped away peacefully on the 22nd of July 2025 at Hospice Peterborough. Her death occurred one day after her 99th birthday. Her son Barry and his wife Deborah were present. Dorothy was born in Westport Ontario on July 21st, 1926. She was the first girl born in a family of eight siblings. She was proud of her Irish-Scottish root. The Lyons and Merkely family emigrated to Canada in the early nineteenth century. They came from Ireland. Dorothy and her husband Norman (deceased) moved to Peterborough in 1959. Both were actively involved in their adoptive city and pleased to make it their home. She is survived by her one son, Barry and daughter-in-law Deborah, as well as her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She kept in touch with them regularly. Dorothy will be interred, next to her husband, at Rosemount Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a small Memorial for Dorothy within the next couple of months. She will be missed and remembered as a woman of dignity and Grace. Long live her memory. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Peterborough or The Nightingale Nursing Home would be greatly appreciated. Please visit Dorothy's Book of Memories at www.ashburnhamfuneral.ca
