SPENCE, Dorothy Hilda (nee Saunders) Died peacefully in Glengarry Hospital, having been predeceased by her husband Russell Andrew Spence (1999). She is survived by: her daughter Sharon Duncan; son Ron Spence; four grandchildren: Victoria (Neal) Fennell; Mark (Pam) Duncan; Chris Duncan; and Kaley (Clay) Leeson; three great grandchildren (Kezia; Yemima and Keren). And of course, her beloved dog, Jabberwalkie. She was born in Saskatoon on March 27,1920, and moved to Victoria in 1928. Dorothy was a significant part of Victoria's Masonic community: twice Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star Victoria Chapter #17; and B.C.'s Grand Representative to New Hampshire; Queen, Daughters of the Nile, Miriam Temple #2, and the Supreme Goodwill Ambassador to the West. She was a proud member of Miriam Temple Patrol and a Past Noble Grand of the ColfaxRebekas, Lodge # 1. Dorothy was also an active lawn bowler at the Lake Hill Club (along with Russell), as well as a constant gardener. The family wish to thank the staff of Chandler Unit A, Glengarry Hospital. There will be a quiet celebration at her request of Dorothy's life, by her family.
