Edward Jacobsen Obituary

Ed passed away peacefully at home at the age of 95. Born in International Falls, Minnesota to Carl and Kirsten Jacobsen he lived most of his life in Winnipeg and Victoria. Ed joined the RCAF just before WWII. He spent much of his career as a Quality Control Engineer first as an officer with the RCAF then with CAE and Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg. His final retirement was to Victoria. Ed was a kind and generous man who supported many charities and donated much time to local groups. He was proud of his Danish heritage and recently made a generous donation to a museum in Denmark that has a display of family portraits that he had inherited. Even at 95 Ed did crosswords every day and read continuously. He often entertained others at his independent living residence with tales of his youth and travels and has written an autobiography of his early life. Ed was extremely loving, proud and supportive of his six children; Nancy of Victoria, Ed of Victoria, Susan of Winnipeg, Bob of Nanaimo, Bill of Red Deer, and Jim of Creston. He is predeceased by his wife, Edith and brother Paul.

A family gathering and remembrance will be planned for later in 2016. In lieu of flowers a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated.

My sympathies to all the Jacobsen family. I have many fond memories of growing up on Elm street Winnipeg and how Edith and Ed took me in while my parents were away. Jeff and I were privileged to have them both at our wedding in Kenora in 1993. As long as your remembered you'll always remain.
