Edwin Tait Obituary

TAIT, Edwin Bruce
1950 - 2025
Heaven recently received a new Development Manager. We only hope the angels are ready for Ed's never-ending requests and follow-ups.
Ed passed away on June 25, 2025, at home, in the arms of his wife and surrounded by family.
After a career that began with blasting roads on Vancouver Island, Ed became a driving force in real estate development. From the late '80s onward, he helped shape Victoria's landscape, playing pivotal roles in projects like Shoal Point, Harbourside, Dockside Green, and The Pearl. He launched Christmas Hill, Spirit Bay, and was part of the Bamberton initiative. His work extended abroad to community developments in Germany and Mexico. In the 2000s, Ed and his family relocated to Loreto, where he helped develop The Villages of Loreto Bay and opened the Bajaja Deli Bar & Grill.
He was a master delegator, relentless note-taker, devoted host, and the man who turned your casual wants into reality. He will be remembered for his unapologetic positions, legendary meals, unwavering devotion to his sons, and his deep, lifelong love for Darlene.
Ed leaves behind his three sons-Jeremy Tait, Kynan Tait (Kelsey), and Graydon Tait (Sara Kinney); his grandchildren, Hannah (Jay) and Connor (Frankie); and his great-granddaughter, Ava Jade. He is also survived by his adoring sister, Donna Tait (Jamie); sister-in-law, Barbara Denney (Ron, d.); brother-in-law, Wes Cornelson (d.); and brother-in-law, Lorne Cornelson (Carrie); along with several nieces and other relatives, countless friends, colleagues, and a family who are better for having elements of him woven into their souls.

A private memorial will be held on September 4, 2025.

I worked with Ed over 30 years ago. Every year since then he would send a happy birthday message and a happy anniversary message and it was always a time to catch up. He has played an integral part in my growth as a human and will be sorely missed. Condolences to Dar and the kids and everyone who called Ed friend.
