Edyth Arter Obituary

ARTER, Edyth Hughella August 29, 1929 - July 8, 2022 "Hughella has left the building!" Having valiantly fought a determined and courageous fight against cancer, Hughella Arter (Holman, nee Glover) made her transition from this life on July 8, 2022, having lived in Victoria, BC for all of her 93 years. Hughella began her hairdressing career in her first salon on Tattersal and Quadra. She moved around the corner onto Quadra to a second salon. From there she moved to Four Corners - Quadra, Cook and Cloverdale - successfully running that third salon for 55 years. She leaves a legacy of laughter, lessons in life, compassion, loyalty, gratitude, manners and respect for elders, the best parties complete with live music, the best hugs ever, cheekiness, fun, and oh, those delectable meals. There's more but finally, a salute to her appreciation of a glass of red wine. Hughella is survived by her daughter Bunty Althaus (Holman), grandchild Tammy Braid, great-grandchildren Austin, Colten, and Tanner Braid, and Braya Kluss. Also, she is survived by grandchild Mathew Clarabut, great-grandchildren, Brooke, Bryce and Reese Clarabut. She is predeceased by husband Laurie Arter, and is survived by stepson Dennis Arter (Sandy), stepdaughter Julie Romanyshyn (Ken) and the entire Holman family. She will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and neighbours. A tremendous Thank You goes out to the incredible staff at Victoria Hospice for their continued support under all conditions. No service shall be forthcoming as per Mom's request. Donations may be made in her memory to Hospice Victoria.

So sorry to hear of Hughella´s passing, Bunty, I saw her last at Karen´s service and she proudly showed me pictures of your children and grandchildren. I know you will miss her, Hughella added so much warmth and laughter to everyone´s day. Many years have passed since grad in `68, we are much too young to be in our 70´s now! Please know that I am thinking of you at this sad time.
With love, Lorraine (Johnson) Ruddick, Glen Haven, Nova Scotia xxx
