Eileen BOWDEN Obituary

BOWDEN Eileen. It is with great sadness that our family announces that Eileen Bowden passed away peacefully on April 5, 2004 in Victoria. Eileen was born in Vancouver on June 20, 1911 and moved to Victoria where she entered grade one at St. Ann's Academy. She lived most of her life in Victoria surrounded by family and friends. It is notable that she has spent the last two years at Sunrise Assisted Living which is adjacent to her first school and across the street from her first home in Victoria. She remembers riding home from school with Mrs. Rithet in her electric car which was one of the first of its kind in Victoria. Survived by sister Audrey Fraser, sister-in-law, Betty Fraser, son Gerry Bowden (Marian) of Eugene, Oregon, daughter Janet Vallevand (Val), son Greg Bowden (Judi) of Vancouver, BC, grandchildren; Martin Vallevand, Barbara Spilde, Stephen Vallevand, Karen Vallevand, Andy Bowden, Lynn Shabinsky, David Bowden, Christine Van Bruggen and Cathryn Hunter and fourteen great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Jerry in 1973, after 43 years of marriage, and her daughter, Joanie. Teacher, author and spiritual leader. Her work with parents and grandparents in many countries established a new approach to educating families in living and practising spirituality. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her many followers around the world. Our family is very grateful to Dr. David Bell and the staff of the Sunrise for the loving care and attention that they provided to Eileen. A private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Mustard Seed Street Church at 625 Queens Avenue, Victoria, BC, V8T 1L9.
