KARVELIS, Elizabeth Greta
October 29, 1938 - February 10, 2026
Elizabeth Greta Karvelis was born October 29, 1938 in Victoria, B.C. to Elsie and George Karvelis, and passed to her eternal home on February 10th, 2026. Beth, as she was fondly called, was a person of great faith in God. Her mother, Elsie, taught both Beth and Don, that happiness and success in life came by a belief in God and Beth embraced this at a very young age.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents and beloved brother, Dr. Donald S. Karvelis of Palm Springs, California.
Beth graduated from Oak Bay High School and went on to the University of Victoria to prepare herself for a career in the medical field. Beth worked for many years as an assistant to various Doctors in Victoria, Chicago Illinois and Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon returning home, she did research work on Aging for the University of Victoria.
Beth had a love of travelling and visited England and Europe as well as California. One of the highlights of her travels was visiting the Country of Latvia where she went to the village where her mother was born and grew up. She also traveled to Greece and visited the birthplace of her father. While in Greece she met several relatives she didn't realize she had. This was thrilling for her! Beth always fondly spoke of her 80th birthday celebration with Don, family and friends in Victoria. This was a very special day for her. We will always remember the Christmas teas Beth and Don hosted with gourmet sandwiches, desserts and English High Tea.
Memories of Beth will always be with us because of her love and many kindnesses to her family and friends. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel - Colwood (317 Goldstream Avenue) on Friday, February 27 at 11:00am, followed by a reception and then internment at Hatley Memorial Gardens (2050 Sooke Road). Donations in memory of Beth could be made to the Salvation Army or to The Heights at Mount View (3814 Carey Rd, Victoria, BC V8Z 4C4) for its Spiritual Care Fund.
