Elizabeth Laugharne Obituary

Died November 26, 2025, Elizabeth 'Liz' Laugharne born August 18, 1923 in Hamilton, Ontario. During her lifetime Liz was blessed with caring and supportive parents; an exceptional husband, Alan; a wonderful family of two children, Patricia 'Trish' and David; as well as a fulfilling and challenging health-professional career. Liz graduated from the Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Toronto. Her education continued at the University of Victoria and the Canadian College of Health Care Executives. Liz's professional career spanned nursing positions in Central America, clinical research, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, Diabetes Patient Education, health care administration and as a healthcare consultant. In 1982, the Registered Nurses' Association of B.C. honoured her with the 'Award of Excellence in Nursing Administration' and in 2013 the B.C. Cancer Foundation honored her with the naming of cancer research studentship bursary.

Liz enjoyed her life to fullest believing strongly that one should 'give back' to the community and did so through many volunteer activities including her church, undertaking Board membership with a number of health related agencies, the Diabetes Educators, Canadian Diabetes Association , the B.C. Cancer Agency, the Oak Bay Lodge Foundation, the Registered Nurses' Assoc. Of B.C. and the Broadmead Care Society. Liz considered herself fortunate in having longtime and steadfast friends with whom she spent many happy hours. Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special and Liz valued every moment she had with them.

Predeceased by her parents; her son, David in 1994; and her husband, Alan in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia 'Trish'; grandchildren, Jonathon (Carla), Michael (Anda), and Carrie (Scott); great grandchildren, Sofia, Camila, Ellie, Ben and Isla; along with many other family members in both Canada and England.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ted Rosenberg,
Dr. Imad Nadra and the 3rd floor staff at Sidney All Care Residence for their dedication and compassionate support.
