Else LANG Obituary

LANG, Else Kristine Margarethe (Jacobsen) In her gracious gentle way, ELSE LANG (Jacobsen), 30 July 1921 – 4 July, 2013, left us quietly for a flowery meadow somewhere beyond our world. Else was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, lived in London, England, for some years after WWII in cooking school and then emigrated to Banff, Alberta, in 1960, cooking at the Banff Centre for the Arts and later in a mining camp in Eldorado, BC. She moved to Kamloops where she met her future husband, Jack Lang (d.1989), at a square dancing club. In 1972, Else moved to Victoria where Jack and her began their life together. Else was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple Lodge (District Lodge Victoria #5 lastly) for many years serving in executive positions and participating generously in every and any way. Else has enjoyed lots of fun with her 'lodge ladies'. Every person who met Else always smiled and spoke of her as such a lovely, sweet and humourous lady. And in every way, every day, to everyone, she was always generous in heart and spirit, with a genuine smile on top. She leaves behind her loving family; John Lang (Jo-Anne), Susan Browne (Norman) and Peggy Elves (John) and their children. Peggy and her children, Elizabeth and Peter, and Else's great-grandchildren Daxon and Zadora were fortunate to live in Victoria and have Else close throughout their lives. Else was one of that mighty past generation and those who knew her will not forget her sweet goodness, blue eyes, her hearty laughter and the times she always so joyfully shared with families and friends. She exampled us to always appreciate the small things in life. Skal, Tusind Tak, Farvel and God Rejse, dear Else. Grateful thanks for the genuine comfort and friendship you extended to Else, from Saint Elizabeth's Health Care - especially Crystal and Joji - and all their attentive nurses and staff, and the Home Care team and Hospice nurses who visited Else at home, and Angela from PRT. Thank you from Else's family. A Memorial Service and reception will be held on Friday, July 19th at 10:00 a.m. at First Memorial, 1155 Fort Street, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations on Else's behalf could be made to the SPCA Victoria or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.

Dear Else, how I will miss your great joy and youthful spirit, your heartfelt greetings, hugs and kisses, giggles, and the touch and squeeze of your hand. Your presence will be forever missed but the memories you have left us with and the kindness and enthusiasm you possessed will forever remain in my heart. Thank you for your laughter, your smile, your kind words and sweet thoughtful ways.
The kids will miss their great-grandmother who always showered them with great love and affection. I'm so happy they will remember you as I do...
