Elva DAWSON Obituary

DAWSON, Elva Estella Born in Raymond, Alberta, in 1920 to Alfred and Estella Morris, passed away quietly on November 7, 2004. Elva is survived by her sister Ruth Anderson of Edmonton, sister-in-law Lenore Morris, of Camrose, and nieces and nephews, Gilbert Morris, Louise Candy, Yvonne McNeely, Bruce Morris, Noreen Grambo, Karen Doerksen, Jim Morris, Roger Anderson, Donna Anderson, Ray Anderson and Bev Lohmaier. Elva graduated as a registered nurse from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and worked as a nurse in Alberta. She married Willard Dawson in 1948 and together they lived in Manitoba before moving to Victoria in the 1950's. Elva was an avid gardener and lover of birds and animals. Her home and gardens on Lagoon Road were a great source of enjoyment and activity for her. She was a founding member of the Album Quilters in the Western Communities, whose members were great friends and provided much support to her. She was also active with the Victoria Quilter's Guild, Juan de Fuca Arts and Crafts, and the Women's Institute. In later years she lived at Heritage Woods and Hiscock at the Priory. Much gratitude is expressed to her companions Wendy Beck and Lydia Beitsma and the staff of the Priory. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 12, at Sands West Shore Chapel, 317 Goldstream Avenue, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willard and Elva Dawson Fund of the Victoria Foundation, #418, 645 Fort Street, Victoria V8W 1G2. 8135
