Ernest Leenheer Obituary

Ernie passed away September 5 with his family by his side after a 16 month battle with cancer, he was 79. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Ernie came to Canada with his parents in the 1950's. He is survived by his wife Barb of 53 years, son Christopher (Samantha), son Stephan (Megan) and three grandchildren, Sofie, Jack and Cecilia, sister-in-law Sharon and nieces and nephews - as well as many cousins in the Netherlands and in Edmonton. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria and a masters from the University of Western Ontario and he taught school for 35 years both in Ontario and the Cowichan Valley. Ernie was an avid hiker and golfer, enjoyed travel and mucking about on his numerous and various Apple products. He will be sorely missed by his Vancouver Island and Palm Royale friends. By request there will be no funeral. Donations to the Cancer Society graciously accepted.

I am sad to hear this! I worked with Ernie in the early '80s at Quamichan Junior High School. He was a good teacher and colleague.
