Esther Lund

LUND, Esther Gertrude January 24, 1912 April 17, 2007 The family of Esther Lund is sad to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother on April 17 at Mt. St. Mary Hospital, Victoria, BC. Mom had a great long life that touched many people along the way. She will be missed by us all but we know that she is content to join her loving husband Roy Lund who passed away November 25, 1996. Esther leaves behind her son John Lund and his partner Marianne van Toor, her daughter Marilyn Wallace and son-inlaw Brian Wallace; her two granddaughters Anna Wallace and Erin Wallace and husband Greg Sullivan and her newly born greatgranddaughter Wallace Sophie Sullivan. Esther was born in New Westminster to Jack and Hannah Elofson. At the age of 12 she was New Westminster's Queen of the May. Her early days were spent outdoors hiking and skiing with her many friends. She trained as a secretary and worked for the B.C. Electric Company in Vancouver. She met Roy at Alta Lake, BC (yet to be Whistler) and married him a year later in 1941. Esther's job was to make sure that the family home was smoothly run and lots of fun. Her house was always open to the business associates, friends, family and neighbourhood kids who gathered there. Never still for long, Esther studied art and took volunteer roles in the PTA, PEO, St. Mary's Church and hospitals in both Vancouver and Victoria. When Roy retired in 1975; they travelled the world extensively and enjoyed a full life together in Vancouver and Victoria. Our Mom can rest well knowing that she did a great job and that she will always be loved and missed. To the loving, caring staff of St. Martha House at Mt. St. Mary Hospital, we express our heartfelt thanks. Our Mom was truly happy being with you. Esther's family will celebrate her life with a private gathering. 360705
