Florence Mary Bushell

1929 - 2022

BUSHELL (BALL), Florence Mary January 15, 1929 - May 18, 2022 Florence died peacefully after a short illness at Royal Jubilee Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lynda, Robert, Rodney (Aly), 7 stepchildren, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by husbands Emmett Joyce, Don Ball, and Albert Bushell, as well as her youngest son, Monty, and daughter-in-law, Linda Jayne. Florence was born in Wainwright, Alberta, and raised a family in Calgary before moving to Victoria in 1971. She worked for diverse employers, including Haynes Brothers Realtors, an optometrist, and 15 years with Sheila Ditchburn at BCIT, before becoming a perfume demonstrator for The Bay and Sears. Always friendly and outgoing, she truly loved meeting the public. For 30 years, she was a longtime member of Holy Cross Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She and her husband Al enjoyed going for brunch with church friends after Sunday mass. Florence and Al loved the Viking River cruises which they embarked on soon after their marriage. Puzzles were a vital entertainment which she shared with friends, as well as being an avid watcher of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She participated in the Hillside Mall walking group for nearly 20 years. Partnered with Christine Winn, she made visits for 10 years for St. Vincent de Paul. With deep appreciation for the care given Florence by Dr. A. Abed and nursing staff on 3 South Cardiac, and 7 West Surgical of Royal Jubilee Hospital. Funeral mass at Holy Cross, 4049 Gordon Head Road, on Saturday, June 18th at 1:30 pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to a charity of your choice.
