Frances WIDDIFIELD Obituary

WIDDIFIELD, Frances Leona (nee Bulmer) Born December 14, 1918, in Amherst, Nova Scotia, died, October 2, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard in 1992. Frances is survived by her brother, Garnet Bulmer and her four children, Kenneth (Sherry), Donna, Fred (Michelle) and Linda (Wes); also, grandchildren, Jennifer, Neal (Courtney), Alison, Patricia, Natalie, Jolene (Wade), Korrin (Clayton), Alexzandra, Benjamin (Lindsay) and Sarah (Mike) and great-grandchildren, Maddison, Bailee, Kamryn, Anna, Chase, Cora and Alexander. As well, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Frances moved from Amherst with her family when she was four years old to Colfax, Saskatchewan and finally, settling in Heward, Saskatchewan in 1923 she grew up and went to Normal School and started her teaching career. In 1950 with her husband and first child she moved to Victoria, where the next three children were born. Frances then went on to teach at many schools in District 61 ending her career at View Royal Elementary. She touched many young lives and was a dedicated teacher for over 35 years. Frances had many hobbies and was a member of the Women's Institute and the Juan de Fuca Senior's. She enjoyed making small stuffed toys for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and her yard was always filled with many new and beautiful plants. She also enjoyed reading and doing many different crafts. After retiring Frances volunteered with Thrifty Foods helping to shop for those who could not do this for themselves. It is with great sadness that we now say good bye to our Mother who will always be treasured and in our hearts, but never forgotten. The family would like to thank the staff of the Birch Unit at the Priory for the exceptional care they gave our Mother and the compassion shown to us. A service will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Sands Funeral Chapel, Colwood, 317 Goldstream Ave. 250-478-3821.
