Frank Hawboldt Obituary

HAWBOLDT, Frank Austin Donald
Frank Austin Donald Hawboldt born in St. John's, Newfoundland April 15, 1943, passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side July 31, 2025.

Frank has lived a very exciting, adventurous & fulfilling life...

At 17 years old Frank enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. Frank quickly earned his jump wings with the Airbourne Regiment as a Paratrooper/Medic with the RCAMC. After several rank promotions, many adventures & successful missions, Frank was commissioned to the rank of Captain & awarded the MMM. A very proud moment for everyone.

Frank retired from his illustrious Military Career here in Victoria BC where his last position was that of Administrator of the CFB Esquimalt Hospital. Next up Frank enjoyed a very exciting career as drug sales rep with many pharmaceutical companies. During his drug rep career Frank continued to make many new lifetime friends within the medical community & on the golf course. Golf was his favorite hobby. I believe his hole-in-1 certificate to be his proudest achievement of them all.

Frank led a very adventurous and fulfilling life. He enjoyed being a part of many organizations. He was awarded a lifetime membership with the Legion and could be seen out & about on many poppy drives. Frank was also awarded a lifetime membership with the Knights of Columbus.

Frank was a very caring, kind, charming & charismatic person. He certainly knew how to work any room. He thrived on being in the center of all the action. There are many great stories that Frank was a huge part of. His laughter, zest for life, smile & charm will greatly be missed but never forgotten.

Frank Hawboldt was a dedicated & loyal husband, amazing father/grandfather, mentor, uncle, great friend, confidant. He was always there to help anyone in need in whatever capacity he could. Frank was one of a kind, he will be greatly missed but never forgotten by all his family, friends and colleagues alike.

Frank is survived by his loving & loyal wife Anita Hawboldt (55 years) and his son Troy Hawboldt & granddaughter Riley Hawboldt. Gloria Jarvis (Hawboldt) & Shirly Haugen (Hawboldt)

Rest in Peace Dad, you've earned it Soldier.
A celebration of Frank Hawboldt's life will be held Thursday, August 14th, 10am at St. Elizabeth's Church in Sidney, BC.

Frank was one of the good guys and I´ll celebrate his friendship while mourning his passing. I first met this fine gentleman over 40 years ago and I enjoyed every encounter with him.

His genuine interest and encouragement as I progressed through my career and beyond into retirement was always welcomed. Of course, he always provided a humorous tale to accompany his advice to me...

The one thing that I know for sure, it´s now guaranteed that everything in the upper camp will be sorted out when the rest of us get there.

My deepest condolences and positive thoughts to Frank´s family.

Dad was a true gentleman and a leader of leaders. You may have know him as Frank Hawboldt, but to me and many more Dad was more of the following to many. Frank Hawboldt was a father, husband, grandpa, uncle, best friend, leader, mentor, confidant and more. Dad was always there for anyone that needed help or perhaps a little advice. He was a true believer in providing people just a little bit of encouragement, or a gentle nudge in the right direction to handle whatever issue you may have had. Even though he would know exactly what to do and the steps to get the results required he would give you just enough details to guide you towards the correct path. Dad always encouraged those around him that you could always solve issues on your own. For many I think his guidance and gentle nudge was a huge part in helping you succeed. Dad always wanted nothing but the best for those around him. Trust me, if Dad was there to guide you in your own life it was because he believed in you. His actions are a true measure of a man & leader.

Dad, I just want to say 'Thank You - For Everything' I truly mean that. You gave me all the tools that I will ever need and then some in my life. If I can be even half the Dad that you were to me for my Daughter then in my opinion - that's a Huge Win. Thru me, thanks to you: your guidance and life lessons will direct her in own life. I know you're still with me and still guiding me and for that I am truly grateful.

Dad had a zest for life like non other. He always enjoying having people around him and being in the center of it all. A conductor of sorts per say. He had a twinkle in his and smile that could light up any room. He was also never shy around a microphone.

Thank you again for everything Dad, I Love You.

I'll see you on the other side Dad. I can't wait to get up to many more adventures with you.

I love you Dad.

I was one of the recipients of Frank's wonderful personality in his role as a pharmaceutical rep. Always smiling, and smooth in his delivery, he would immediately bring a positive tone to our medical offices. R.I.P, Frank. You were one of a kind!
