Frederick Comer Obituary
COMER, Frederick William November 6, 1941 March 19, 2005 Born in Victoria, B.C. Passed away at home in Cornwall, Ontario after a short courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Lovingly remembered by spouse Kathy; sons, Stephen (Becky) and grandson Terran of Toronto and Jeffrey (Charlene) and expected grandchild in May of Cornwall; brothers Ken and Bob (Heather); sisters Maureen McQuarrie (Charles) and Margaret Bassett (Brian); several nieces and nephews and many friends and colleagues. Fred was a modest man of integrity and possessed a brilliant mind. Following his education in Victoria, he received his PhD at U.B.C. in Natural Products Chemistry with NRC post doctoral fellowships at Imperial College, London, England and McMaster University, Ont. He enjoyed a distinguished and innovative career in Canada mainly in research and management. He produced several patents and numerous publications. He was a high level and well respected member of the Flavor Manufacturing Association of Canada. Fred worked these last ten years at now Sensient Flavors Canada as Technical Manager responsible for quality control, quality assurance, research, development and other technical support to production and sales department. His hobbies many, Fred especially loved winemaking, nature and the outdoors, camping, skiing and tennis. He took much pleasure in his many world travels taking a keen interest in the history and scenic beauty of places visited. Fred will be greatly missed by family.
