Dear Leeke family,

I was sitting in my doctor's office one day, flipping through the newspaper when I came to the obituaries - a section I rarely read. I saw the name "Leeke" and thought "How do I know that name?" Then I saw Fred's photo. Shock quickly turned to sadness as I tried to take in the news. It took everything I had to fight back the tears. I had met Fred only in June, and spent every Saturday over the summer riding on handyDART with him into town. He fascinated me with his stories and charmed me with his sense of humour. He was the type of man my generation will never know: a true gentleman with a devilish sense of humour. I was hoping to get to know him better. When we dropped him off at the Legion, I always made him promise to have a beer for me. "A couple of beers and a bunch of lies," was always his response as he got off the bus. It made me laugh every time. That is how I will always remember him. Fred's passing has left a big hole in my world. I'm sure that is even more true for you. I wish you all happy memories of your time together.
