Gabriel Pollard Obituary

POLLARD, Gabriel Born March 6th, 2002 Died Tragically June 21, 2018 Gabriel was an artist, a gourmet, mentor and animal lover (especially his cats Beatrice and Oscar). He was a community activist and loved everything about trains, Lego, and sailing. Gabe was an enthusiastic hockey and baseball fan, an equestrian, a romantic and bon vivant. He did not allow Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy to define him. Styling himself a maverick, he was just coming into his own. A young man, his future full of promise despite the condition which was relentless. He fought and succeeded in keeping that dragon at bay. Thank you Gabe for being a most excellent son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, superhero, and friend. Your absence has left a gaping hole in our world. Our house is too quiet. I will forever miss everything about you. You are my superhero, my teacher and son. Love Mom. Our heartfelt gratitude to those who helped in Gabe's rescue. The paramedics, nurses, and doctors at VGH who tried so hard to save him. A special thank you to Shona, Mom, Linda at Helping Hands. The Hunter clan and Earth's Option. Thank you Ava, David, Marcus, and Trish, and the multitude of family and friends bearing gifts of food, flowers, beautiful tributes, loving kindness, and financial contributions. We welcome family and friends to join us for a celebration of Gabe's life on August 11th at Pearkes Arena Gym at 1:00 pm.

Hello, my name is Lisa, I did not know you, however I've seen your story online. I just want the family of Gabriel to know how sorry I am that you lost your boy, he had a beautiful smile! When I first heard your story I felt your pain, my son Josh, also had DMD, at the time I told this story to Josh he was still with me. He understood his story all to well. On November 16, 2018, he too passed. I just wanted you to know you are never alone in your feelings and I hope that he and Josh are maybe some way together having fun, free from pain. Josh was 24..

So very proud of Gabe, he had such a gutsy approach to life while having to climb a mountain on a daily bases. Gabe had a very old soul.

It's been a month, a week, and a day since Gabe's passing, but it still hasn't sunk in that the spunky kid we met a couple years ago has moved on to bigger adventures. Sending love and hugs to Carrie, Ava, and Auntie M., a big smile up to Gabe, and holding you all close in my heart.
