Gabrielle OSTRO Obituary
On January 18, 2022, Gaby passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. She was born in Hanover, Germany in 1934 and escaped with her parents, Charles and Hilde Frankel and maternal Grandmother to New York in 1938. She grew up in Queens, NY and attended Syracuse University receiving her an Art History Degree in 1955. She then followed her parents to Montreal, Quebec where she met and married the love of her life, Edward Ostro in 1956. She had a rich life, career, and community involvement in Montreal before retiring to Victoria, BC in 1995. She is survived by daughter Dana (Christopher Marchant), sons David and Steven, grandsons Brian and Scott (Shaina) along with her great granddaughter (Quinn).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in her name to either Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, BC Cancer or the Alzheimer Society Research Program. With thanks.

We are heartbroken to learn, only today (February 9th, 2022) of Gaby´s passing. Please accept our deepest condolences. Gaby was a good friend and colleague. We shared deep connections in educational administration and related research. She had a vibrant spirit throughout her retirement years and was fully immersed in community affairs. We, in our family, shall miss her.
