Gail Fairhurst Obituary

Gail Fairhurst, 72, of Toronto Ontario passed away on September 11, 2024.
Gail was raised in Victoria BC and moved to England in her 20s. When she returned to Canada she found her community in Toronto, East York.
Gail was full of love, always did things on her own terms and lived exuberantly. She travelled the world and made friends wherever she went.
She will be sadly missed by her dog Ru, her extended family, her generous East York neighbours and her international friends. There will be no formal celebration of life, but there will be many small celebrations, where we will lift a glass to her.
Love you Gail!

Gail was in Grade 5 with me. She sat across the aisle from me and at the back of the classroom. I was fascinated in how talented she was drawing Horses. I asked her if I could have one of her drawings and she gave me one. I took it home and pinned it to my bedroom wall. As hard as I tried, I could not draw like Gail could. She was a really nice girl and I have her photograph in our class picture. Rest in Peace Gail. Debbie

She made it into the British press, though not by name - a columnist reported going to a pub in London, where she was working behind the bar. He asked if there was any food to be had, and thought she replied "mutton". He soon realised she´d actually said "nutt´n". They broke the mould when they made Gail - she brightened up my world.
