We were so saddened by the news of Gary´s passing. While on the surface Gary provided legal council for our family and our business the truth is our relationship went beyond that. We considered him to also be a friend, advisor, mentor, and a strong source of support. His dedication as a proud parent was an inspiration.

Our thoughts are with his family during this time of mourning.

I met Gary when I worked for Pearson, Philp´s and Kinar many years ago and reconnected when he joined the same gokf club that I belonged to. It was great working in such a vibrant office with fun loving but hard working young lawyers. Enjoyed following him on the tee and our many casual conversation and seeing his wife and daughter enjoying the club atmosphere. I am saddened by his early passing with so much to live for and pass on my personal condolences to his wife and daughter for their loss.

My profound condolences to the family.

Gary was a friend and sometimes my lawyer from the time I began practicing in 1988. We met at the courthouse and over the years frequently met for lunch which often included lively ( but always amiable) political debates. Those lunches always included Gary pumping me for lurid tales from the world of criminal law which he had abandoned soon after we met, but which continued to fascinate/amuse/annoy/disgust him. The other inevitable topic was the love and pride he felt for his daughter, from her infancy to our last lunch together in 2022.

We saw much less of each other after I retired, but it was always a pleasure to spend time in his company. I will miss him greatly and remember him always.

A man of deep family devotion, character, and wry humour, Gary `s passing now leaves a void amongst his family and friends. I first met Gary more than 40 years ago, soon after he moved to Victoria to set up his law practice here. We soon became friends. Over the years we met many times, mainly over lunches, where we would `trade lies´ according to Gary. He was entirely devoted to his wife Ida and his daughter Gwyneth, and loved being a husband and a father. My sincere condolences to Gary´s family. His spirit will live on.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. My heart goes out to Ida and Gwyneth and all of Gary's many close friends. I am so sorry for your loss. Gary was my first and favourite boss. He worked so hard and spent many evenings at the office in the late 80's. But he found joy in mountain biking, golf and especially when Ida came into his life. I bumped into him and Gwenyth in Oak Bay junction the summer of 2000. She was a cute little baby and he was such a proud Dad, already talking about her university education. About 10 years ago, I saw Gary and Ida at the Saanichton Fair, holding hands and looking like high school sweethearts. I will never forget Gary's 40th birthday and the prank his buddies pulled on him while at the office. Rest in peace, Gary, you will be greatly missed.
