George SEATON Obituary
SEATON George Langdale, born on February 25, 1907, in Woking, England; passed away peacefully on January 17, 2003. Predeceased by his wife Violet in 1995, he was survived by his loving family, Lanny (Dianna) Seaton, Pat Hoey and Peter (Joanne) Mugford, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by Lorna Kenyon and family. George was a twin and the youngest of seven children. He came to Victoria with his family at the age of three, where he lived and attended school in Otter Point. He worked many jobs within the Sooke area, until he found his true calling as a pioneer logger on southern Vancouver Island. He worked for many companies until he eventually owned and operated his own logging business. He also became a successful bulldozer operator who built many of the roads and thoroughfares we now enjoy today within the Greater Victoria area, until he finally retired at age 72. George enjoyed fishing and was an active member of the Goldstream Masonic Lodge. He was an extremely hard-working, generous and proud family man known for his terrific wit, sense of humor, and love for life. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his family and all who knew him. A service will be held on Thursday, January 23, at 1:00 p.m. at McCall's, 1400 Vancouver St. Reception to follow at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #91, 761 Station Ave. in Langford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospice Society.
