German Santana Obituary

German Santana - Born May 28,1950 in a little town called Mogan, on the Island of Gran Canaria, Spain. He leaves his love and memories with his family: wife of 27 years, Aranza, four children Steven, Sara, Ariana & Carlos, son-in-law Christian, daughter-in-law Shannon and granddaughter Fatima. Predeceased by his first wife, Joy Southwell in 1984.

German lived his childhood in Telde, Gran Canaria. He moved to Canada when he was 20 years old with nothing but the clothes on his back. His hard-working spirit drove him and he became a successful carpenter and general contractor. He was a talented wood finisher and had an eye for design.

He loved being with his family and friends, gardening, working on his house, and helping others. Lawn bowling was his favorite sport for the past 22 years and he was great ambassador for the game: supporting juniors and winning provincial and national titles.

Through the years he has made many friends around the world. With a beaming personality, sense of humour, and charismatic and generous nature, he was easy to befriend. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Greek Community Hall, 4648 Elk Lake Dr, Victoria, BC V8Z 5M1 on October 24th from 1pm-8pm.

So sad to hear of the loss of German. He was a marvelous man! I worked with and socialized with German many many years ago, he was a fun and positive influence for me at a very impressionable time, I think of him often. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.
