Gerrit Mol, Victoria, B.C. resident, born May 25, 1932, Eemnes, Netherlands died Nov. 11/2024 in Victoria. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 21. He leaves behind children Corinne Mol and Gerrit Mol and wife Ann Fraser-Mol. He is the beloved Opa of Rachel, Emily, Jordan, Paige, Kyle, Nick and Isabel. Gerrit built many houses and was the building inspector in Cowichan, Port Hardy, and Metchosin. He was an avid soccer player and followed the Dutch national soccer team and the Canucks. He made a mean Dutch apple pie and sumptuous Italian bread. He whiled away many hours playing Klaverjas at the Vancouver Island Netherlands Association (the Dutch Club) Vanalmen Avenue in Victoria. Gerrit was a good friend to our parents, our dad in particular. They shared being wild characters with huge hearts. A good guy. I'll always remember him smiling.

I was a Building Inspector and remember meeting Gerrit at our meetings and workshops. He was a kind man, very easy to speak to and set an example of what the working relationship should be with those on the other side of the counter. It worked for me and I thank him for that. I am very sorry for your loss. He was a good man.

What to say? Gerrit, what a guy! I´ve so many good memories of him, his wild and funny nature. We spent a bit of time on my boat when I was in the inner harbor and had many discussions. He was a friend to my father and mother, in fact he spoke at my father´s funeral. Gerrit said he really misses Herb just not his wine. Lol. So true. I lost contact with him when I sailed off but I did try to find him. So now I know where you are. You lived a long and adventurous life. I´m glad to of known you and called my friend.

Our condoleances, I wish all family and friends a lot of strength. When I was in Canada with my family, Gerrit drove us to Victoria and let us stay over at their apartment. I remember him being very happy to see some of this Dutch family and he was very welcoming and making jokes, his Dutch was still very good and we had a great time

Our thoughts and love are with you as you process this journey. We are here when and if you need us. We are confident your dad was proud of the man you are today and inevitably would be proud of the man you become.
