I just saw this today. I was Gordon's friend, and he was my mentor in the 1970s while he lived in Toronto before being assigned to his parish in Hearst, Ontario. At the time, he would have been in his early to mid-40s and took an awkward 17-year-old under his wing. We met at the McLaughlin Planetarium Optical Workshop, where we built telescopes and volunteered at the Toronto Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. He inspired my life in a number of ways, and I am sorry to hear that he and his wife, Agnes, have left this world.
Rest Gordon. Thank you for helping a young man find his way.

While not a blood relative permit me to send condolences to the Craig family. My grandmother´s sister, Marian Evelyn Butchart, married John Craig, a widower with two sons, Robert Gordon Craig and John Murray Craig. After John died in 1918 step-mother Marian raised the two boys. She also informally adopted grandchildren of her sister Jessie Todd Butchart when she died, one of whom is me. I recall meeting Murray in Toronto in 1966 and visited Marian Craig shortly before she died in 1964. I regret being unaware of Gordon here in Victoria. Sincerely, Walter J. Balfour (250-598-6456).
