Gordon Godfrey Obituary

GODFREY, Gordon Alexander September 6, 1926 - January 27, 2017 Gordon passed away peacefully at Luther Court in Victoria. Predeceased by brothers Bob, John, Tam and sisters Ellen, Mary and Margaret. Survived by sisters Ruth, Joyce and Christine and brother Jim, as well as a very large extended family of nieces, nephews and their families. Gordon was born and raised in Victoria, first on the family farm at Telegraph Bay in Saanich and then on to operate Donalea Farm Dairy on Mount Newton X Road in Saanichton. He loved the farming lifestyle and all animals and plants. The large family congregated at the farm for family get-togethers to socialize, work and play. Gordon loved to mentor youth, be it badminton, school sports activities, bowling or 4-H. He was a great cheerleader and admired their accomplishments. In life, and now death, he was a very generous and giving man, thinking of others first. We will all remember Gord for his wonderful laugh, his smile and sage advice! He was truly one of a kind and our lives have been so enriched for having been a part of his life. Our grateful thanks to all staff at Luther Court for their kindness and wonderful care of Gordon. A celebration of life will be held on March 11 at 1:00 pm at Shoal Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive, Sidney, BC.

Bill and I had the pleasure of knowing Gord when we lived in Victoria. Bill purchased steers from him and they became friends. It was through Gord that we found our very good friends, the Godfreys, in Horsefly. My condolences to the family and friends.
