I have many great memories of all the things he taught me as a young boy. Dad knill and mom knill took me in as a foster child at 4 years old in 1966. I was with them for 6 and a half years I will always be thankful that I wound up with them that was the best thing that happened to me, I learned alot from Dad he was a very smart intelligent man he taught me everything I know about fishing camping and the enjoyment you get from little hard work. He gave me the work ethic I have to this day. I definitely miss our phone calls we were having we talked about everything. I want to say thank you for all you did for me as a child you made my life happy and I'll always remember the cabin and the fun I had as a kid. I think about you often and miss you alot until we meet again i love you and miss our phone calls .

It's always saddening when I good person's life ends. But it's good to know Gordie lasted until he was 95. And, Helen, how terrific that you two had a marriage lasting 74 years!! I hope you are doing well now. Take care. It was good to have our families next door to each other years ago.

I remember that Gordie was a good carpenter and my parents asked him to build new kitchen structures in our house.

After that was finished they also asked him to build a headboard for a bed we had. I still have that headboard on my bed and every month I still appreciate the quality of construction he produced and I thank Gordie for doing such a fine job.

He actually made a mistake in positioning one piece of the headboard's wood and he apologized for doing so, but that error made the headboard unique and it is very useful that way and we love it and wouldn't want it any other way!

Thanks, Gordie!

He was a terrific neighbour.

He made a plywood power boat in his basement when I was a kid. I was fascinated by his ability to create such an item and I made many visits to see how his project was going on.

When the boat was finished Gordie asked me if I'd like to go out fishing with him and Greg. That scared me. At that age I was even afraid of being on a big ferry, because I was always worried it might sink. But I wanted to experience Gordie's new construction and it was a good decision to do so because I caught two fish that day we went out!

Back home that night when I went to bed I physically felt like I was still in the boat rolling over the ocean waves - a strange sensation in bed. That was the first time I was ever in a small pleasure boat and it was the beginning of an important passion in my life. I'm now a yacht club member.

Thanks Gordie!

Well I and your families will always have good memories of Gordie, won't we. If there's a Gordie celebration coming up I would enjoy being there. I'm at:
