Dear Mrs Slater and Sharon: I am so sorry for your loss. Mr Slater was a lovely man. He always had a smile and something pleasant to say. Our neighbourhood on Roseberry was like an extended family to me, and you and Mr Slater were a big part of that. Our hearts go out to you in this time of grief. With love, Barbara & Michael Richman (Partington)

Dear Laura and Sharon, I am so very sorry to hear about Gord. My most vivid memory of Gord was him standing so tall in the mens department at The Bay. When I was growing up, I would stop by to say hello. He always made time for me, even when he had customers to look after. He will be missed. Love from his goddaughter

Dear Laura and Sharon,

I'm sad to hear that Gord has passed. I know you two will miss him very much. Gord was always friendly and pleasant and would kindly stop his yard work and ask after my dad, mom and siblings, anytime I walked by. I'll miss that. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Dear Mrs. Slater and Sharron,

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Slater's passing. As next-door neighbours for over 25 years I feel like I've lost a member of my family. You watched all of us kids grow up and were always kind and understanding, especially to me. I have missed the old neighbourhood over the years and have driven by whenever I am back in Victoria, always wondering how you were all doing. I will always remember how lovely it was to see Mr. Slater at my Dad's (Joe Ellis) memorial service in Nanaimo almost 20 years ago...he was such a kind, caring gentleman. My deepest sympathy.
