Gordon Wilkin Obituary

WILKIN, Gordon (Gordie) Avid sportsman, fisherman and golfer, Gordie Wilkin, passed away September 3, 2006. Almost 89, Gordie, or "pa" as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren, was with his family when he passed away. He leaves his wonderful wife of 63 years, Margery, and his children Gail, Barry, Bruce and Dan, and their families. Gordie was a View Royal volunteer fireman, an amazing welder who ran his own business G.O. Wilkin Repair, a manager of many softball/fastpitch teams, a great golfer and member of the Metchosin Golf Course and "slayed the big ones" for many years off Sooke. Gordie was a hardworking proud husband and father who loved his family. There will be a gathering for family and friends at 1857 Crescent Road, from 1-4 pm, Sunday, September 10, 2006. A special thanks to the staff at the Royal Jubilee for their compassionate care. 291199

I'm sorry for your loss. Gordie was a special person in my life during my younger years when I needed a mentor. Some of my most memorable times were spent with Gordie and Gerald fishing near Sooke. Just being around him brought me a sense of peace during my teenage years. The values he shared with me have stayed with me since. 25 years later I still think of the quality time I was able to spend with him. He will be missed.
