Grant Erickson Obituary
ERICKSON, Grant Charles
Grant passed away peacefully at home in Cobble Hill on April 15, 2025. Born on April 28, 1947, in Pierceland, Saskatchewan, Grant was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Gladys Erickson, and his son, Kjell. Grant is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn; his daughters, Kajsa and Lisa (Arnie); and his sons, James (April) and Shawn (Marina). He was a cherished "Granta" to his grandchildren: Brittney, Kelsey, Isla, Nicki, and Redmond. He also leaves behind his sisters, Cheryl (Bob) and Karen (Ray), along with their families, and many other relatives and friends.
Grant had fond memories of his childhood growing up on the family farm in Pierceland, where the Beaver River flowed through their land. His father had him skating on the river at a very young age. During his school years, Grant excelled at sports, playing many different games with passion. At 18, he played for the Estevan Bruins, helping them win the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey Championship. Just two months later, he played baseball for the small town of Grande Centre, Alberta, winning the Alberta Junior Baseball Championship. Grant went on to enjoy a professional hockey career that spanned ten years, during which he scored over 200 goals.
After retiring from hockey, Grant led an interesting and varied work life. Sports continued to be an important part of his world, and he spent many memorable years playing hockey with his Victoria Cowboys and Sidney Old Buoys teammates, as well as enjoying countless golf trips with his friends.
In later years, Grant and Lynn retired to Arbutus Ridge, where they appreciated everything the seaside community had to offer. They loved to travel, exploring the world together, and spent many winters in the warm south.
Grant's wonderful sense of humor, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his thoughtful advice will be deeply missed.
You were so well loved,
and we will keep you in our hearts forever.
At Grant's request, there will be no service. Flowers are gratefully declined.
