Greta WAPPAT Obituary
We are saddened to announce the passing of Greta Wappat (Hart) on October 8, 2025.
Greta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Mikkers (Gerald); her grandson, Jordan Mikkers (Shawneen); her granddaughter, Kara Murphy (Kris); and her great grandchildren, Adeline, Elijah, Emma, Isabel, Lukas, and Karter. Greta also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Canada and England.
Greta was born and raised in Leicestershire, England along with her four brothers Harold, Ken, Clarence (Tigger), and twin Terry. A few years after her marriage to Ralph, they immigrated to Calgary, Canada, where Dawn was born. During those years in Calgary and Edmonton, they built strong, lifelong friendships. They moved to Victoria in 1967 where Greta worked at Arnold's bakery. This is where her love of desserts grew immensely. Later, she worked part time at Pearson College while also volunteering for the Red Cross. She also enjoyed many years in her ladies bowling league. In her retirement she was delighted to spend time with friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as entertaining guests and family with her multi course dinners.
Greta will be remembered for always being ready with some homemade squares served with a cup of tea complete with her warmth, love, and her sharp English wit.
Gerald and Dawn extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Selkirk Seniors Village for the loving care that Greta received.
Please join us for her celebration of life on Saturday, November 15th, at Holland House, 733 Vanalman Ave. from 2 to 4 PM.
