WILLIAMS, Gwyneth Anne Gwen passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her parents Mason and Agnes (nee Crawford) Williams and brother David. She will be dearly missed and always remembered by her brother Peter; children Anne, Paul, and Avril; grandchildren Elizabeth, Christopher, and Joshua; and great-grandchild Lily. Gwen was born in 1932 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver and lived with her family near Bralorne until the family moved to North Vancouver in 1940. Gwen graduated from North Van High School in 1950, and from Provincial Normal School in 1951. She worked for CN Telegraph in Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Prince George until 1954. She then taught in the one-room schoolhouse at Mud River, west of Prince George, until 1956. After relocating to Victoria in 1960, she graduated from UVic with a BA in 1967, and from UBC with a BLS in 1970. The family moved to Salmon Arm for two+ years where Gwen was a teacher/librarian, and returned to Victoria in 1973. She worked for Statistics Canada for many years, a job she dearly loved partly because she met so many wonderful people. She retired, reluctantly, in 2016 at the age of 84. Gwen lived in her old house on Quadra St. for 46 years before making the move to Ross Place, where she was very happy. Gwen had a great sense of adventure and fun. She travelled widely and was always keen to explore new places and to visit with family and her many friends. All in all, Gwen led a very interesting and fulfilling life. We are sincerely grateful for the care and attention our mom received from her beloved friends, Ross Place staff and residents, and the staff of 8 North at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. A celebration of Gwen's life is planned for the summer of 2022. Condolences may be made at:
